Wantable Accessories December 2013 Box Review

Wantable is a subscription service that offers a choice of three boxes:  makeup, accessories, and intimates.  One nice thing about Wantable is that you can choose to buy just a single box to try it out if you don't want to commit to a subscription.  The cost of a single box is $40, and a monthly subscription is $36 each month.  Right now I own a good amount of jewelry that I've acquired over the years, but my style has changed over time, so I thought I should expand my collection a bit.  A jewelry subscription box seemed like the perfect way to do this.

When you sign up for Wantable, you decide which box (or boxes) you would like, and then you fill out a survey stating your preferences.  You can choose from "love," "like," or "dislike" for each question.  According to the site, you will never receive anything that you say you dislike and are more likely to receive things that you say you love.  Sounds great, right?

I decided that I wasn't quite ready for a monthly subscription, but I just wanted to try out a box, so I ordered a single accessories box.  The December box came in the mail a few days ago, and I couldn't wait to open it.  Here's what I got:

Baubles and Treats...and Boxes! Julep Maven Bombshell Starter Box Review

I have recently discovered the wonderful world of subscription boxes.  There are so many boxes in so many different categories:  beauty, accessories, food, kids...the list goes on.  I am new to subscription boxes, but I've been wanting to expand my jewelry collection, and I always love trying out new beauty products, so those are the boxes I've focused on.  So far, I have subscribed to Julep, Wantable accessories, Your Bijoux Box, Ipsy, and PopSugar Must Have.

Julep Maven is a nail polish-related subscription box.  When you become a Julep Maven, you receive a monthly box containing new, never-released polishes, as well as nail treatments or accessories.  The boxes are $19.99 per month, and the contents are valued at at least $40.  If you take a style quiz, you will receive your own style profile and the boxes that go along with it.  One great thing is that you're not restricted to your particular style.  Every month before the boxes are shipped, you can look at the contents of the other style profile boxes, and you can always try a different one.  If you don't make a change, they will automatically send you the box for your style profile.

After taking my style quiz, I got the "Bombshell" starter box.  According to Julep, "As a Bombshell, you are a confident frill-seeker with magnetic appeal.  You adore bold, glam colors and anything that sparkles."  I'm not sure that's the best description of me, but I did like the colors in the starter box, and I can always try another style later on!

Anyway, I was very excited to see my Julep box in the mailbox the other day.  Here's what I got:

A New Year (almost), A New Blog

I never make New Year's resolutions.  I'm not against resolutions themselves--I make them all the time (with varying results).  But making them just because it's January has always seemed arbitrary to me.  However, there have been a lot of changes in my life in the past year.  This year, I moved to a new state, started a new job, and had to change my diet for health reasons.  It's taken some time to adjust, but I'm now settling into my new life, and I'm happy to say that the changes have been all for the better.  I've been able to spend more time on little things that I enjoy, which is great.  I decided to make a resolution to take some time each day and do something for myself, no matter how small.

The name of this blog is Baubles and Treats.  My purpose here is simply to share some of the little things that I enjoy, whether it's a new recipe, beauty product, or piece of jewelry.  I figure that we all have enough to do and think about each day, but maybe a little treat (or bauble) can add a bright spot.

So, welcome and thanks for reading.  I hope you find my posts to be useful, entertaining, and fun.
