Birchbox: March 2014 Review

I didn't get a shipping notification, and the app on my phone wasn't showing me anything new, so I was very surprised when my March Birchbox appeared in my mailbox two days ago!  According to the information card, this month's theme is Spring Forward.  Here's what I got:

The first item was one that I had been hoping to get:  Air Repair Rescue Balm.  I always have dry lips and skin, especially in the winter months, and I am always looking for new products to treat them.  I was a little disappointed in the small size of the tube I received, as well as the fact that it seemed almost empty!  I managed to squeeze a bit out, though.  It definitely moisturized my lips, but it didn't taste so great.  I used a bit more on my elbows, and it worked great.  A little bit seems to go a long way, but I would have liked some more in the sample.

Next was Caudalie Vinosource Moisturizing Sorbet.  This is supposed to reduce redness while hydrating skin, so I am looking forward to testing it out.  The texture is gel-like and feels sheer, so it should be fine for me to put on my face.

Next was Jurlique Rose Moisture Plus Moisturising Cream Mask.  This is supposed to boost the radiance of your skin.  The sample looks like it will be just enough for one use, so I'm not sure how much of an effect it will have, but I am curious to try it.

Next was theBalm How 'Bout Them Apples? Cheek and Lip Cream in Pie.  This is a creamy stain with a hint of shimmer.  The color is a bit brighter than I usually wear, but I don't have much experience with stains, so I'm happy to be introduced to something like this.  The color is fairly sheer, so it is pretty wearable for me.

Next was a "beauty extra," Jurlique Rose Hand Cream.  I am always in need of hand cream, so I am happy about this, although I wish it were in a tube rather than a packet.

Finally, there was an extra treat from Ghirardelli:  a square of their new flavor, Cherry Tango.  This was dark chocolate with cherry and almond, and it was amazing.  It was probably one of my favorite Ghirardelli flavors.  I'm going to have to look for it at the store.

I thought this month's Birchbox had a good selection of products for me.  I do wish that the samples would be a bit larger, though, since it is difficult for me to evaluate how effective a product is if I can only use it once or twice.  It is, however, a good way to introduce me to products I haven't tried or even heard of before.
